With the addition of the talented Juan Ferreyra on art duties, Arvid Nelson's REX MUNDI #16 flew off the shelves, with Diamond Comics selling out the current issue of the critically acclaimed series in less than a week!
"Well this certainly is a wonderful surprise! When I started doing the art on REX MUNDI, I was more than happy to be working on a wonderful story by Arvid and giving new life to the characters he created, so selling out in less than a week just gives me a lot of energy to keep drawing this book," said Ferreyra. "Doing the art for Rex Mundi is so refreshing, is a beautiful book and I can do stuff that might not work in other books, I feel very comfortable where I am"
Nelson added, "Having Juan on board is a dream come true. There couldn’t be a better time for readers to get on board, too - REX MUNDI has never looked so good, and the story’s about to undergo a major shift."
REX MUNDI is a quest for the Holy Grail told as a murder mystery. It’s set in an alternate-history Paris where magic is real and the Catholic Church never lost its grip on power. Doctor Julien Sauniere investigates the theft of a medieval scroll from a Paris church. He stumbles onto a series of horrific ritual murders and an ancient secret society somehow connected to the mysterious scroll.
"We’re just about halfway through, and things will be different from here on out. The story will maintain the same brooding intensity, but it’s going to be more fast-paced, more kinetic," Nelson said.
REX MUNDI #17 (JAN061815) ships in March, and then following that, the May-shipping REX MUNDI #18 features a cover by superstar artist HUMBERTO RAMOS (Revelations, Spider-Man).
"What can I say? Humberto’s cover is absolutely beautiful! I mean, it’s a work of art," Nelson enthused. "I’ve been a fan of his for a long time, his artwork is refreshing and simple, but it’s got a subtle character to it."
There are currently two collections available - REX MUNDI, VOL. 1: THE GUARDIAN OF THE TEMPLE (NOV031267) and REX MUNDI, VOL. 2: THE RIVER UNDERGROUND TP (JAN051614). The series ships bi-monthly through Image Comics. Your local comic retailer can contact their Diamond Customer Service Representative for ordering on any of these books.
