Studio 414, the creative team behind multiple motion comic projects, including Street Fighter: Round One Fight! and Voltron for Eagle One Media is teaming with one of comic's top writers to to create an original property, specifically for the growing digital medium.
Valkyrie is created and written by Ron Marz (Witchblade, Green Lantern), with character designs by Derec Donovan (Youngblood, Adventures of Superman), and features an original story created specifically for this project. The storyline has one foot in the present and one foot in the past, as the long-ago adventures of a pulp-style hero and his Nazi saboteur adversary echo into today. When their respective, long-abandoned lairs are discovered, the rivalry between two high-school girls is taken to an entirely unexpected level, paving the way for a new era of stories.
"This is a story I've been wanting to tell for a while, and this is a great opportunity to tell it," said Marz. "I wrote a script to take full advantage of the process, with plenty of action and cinematic storytelling. This isn't going to be a bunch of talking heads."
Joseph Whiteaker, Art Director of Studio 414 had this to say. "We are incredibly excited to be working with Ron Marz on an original story, created exclusively for the motion comics platform."
Street Fighter: Round One Fight! and Voltron are part of an agreement with Starz Media's Manga Entertainment to make these animated motion comic productions available for broadcast and digital download distribution. In the first deal of its kind, both motion comic series will be broadcast on the SyFy Channel over several weeks beginning September 28th during Manga's popular Ani-Mondays programming block.
Following the SyFy broadcasts, the motion comic episodes will then be made available for purchase with Starz Digital Media's distribution partners by digital download through outlets including: iTunes, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Store.
