Meltdown Comics, on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood California has announced Lions, Tigers & Bears Day on Saturday, January 29th to celebrate the release of the newest Image Comics all-ages mini series. Series creator Mike Bullock will be on hand from 1pm to 4pm to sign comics and other promotional items as well as interact with readers and other special guests.
Meltdown Comics and Runemaster Studios, Inc. are joining forces to provide visitors with a contest, while making Lions, Tigers & Bears #1 available for signing. One lucky contestant will leave with an original piece of artwork from the first issue of the series. The creative team has vowed to never sell art pages from the first issue, so contests such as this one will be the only way readers can get their hands on an official page of Lions, Tigers & Bears artwork from the first issue.
Gaston Dominguez-Letelier head buyer for Meltdown Comics had this to say about Lions, Tigers and Bears, "Not since POGO or Calvin and Hobbes have I been as excited in the art of comics. What Bullock and Lawrence have achieved with this series will let me as a comics’ retailer feel comfortable in recommending their books to young readers and adults alike. Lions, Tigers & Bears is the ‘kick in the pants’ all-ages comics needed."
Furthermore, Mr. Dominguez-Letelier stated, "If you frequent comics’ stores worldwide and see Lions, Tigers & Bears on the shelves, do a good deed and share your love of the form, buy 20 copies of this book to donate to your local Library and give the gift of comics, I know I will!"
“Having lived just a few short blocks from Meltdown Comics during the early ‘90s, it’s a pleasure and a treat to have one of my first signings for Lions, Tigers & Bears at this store,” said Bullock. “Gaston and the entire Meltdown crew have such an infectious love of comics and storytelling that I’m sure a good time will be had by all.”
Along with Bullock, various movers & shakers in the Hollywood firmament are expected to be in attendance throughout the afternoon to help celebrate Lions, Tigers & Bears Day, as well as other comic creators from Image, Alias and several small press publishers.
Lions, Tigers & Bears #1 (of 4) will be available in better comic shops Wednesday, January 26th, 2005. Published monthly by Image Comics, Lions, Tigers & Bears is a four-issue, original all-ages mini series.
