DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT announced today that their initial print runs for the first issues of their all-new series Savage Tales and Raise the Dead have sold out. The debut issues for both titles sold out last month from Dynamite.
Dynamite currently does not have plans to offer second prints of either issue, but does encourage retailers to check their orders on subsequent issues - and fans to reserve their copies as well. Issue #2 for Raise the Dead shipped this past Wednesday (5/2/07) and issue #2 of Savage Tales (MAR073340) is being prepped for shipping later this month.
Dynamite stated, "Once again, we would like to send our appreciation to the fans and retailers for the support and dedication they have shown for Dynamite. We do our best to provide a quality product in the most fun and interactive way possible, always keeping the fans and retailers in mind through our various contests and message boards. Of course, we also have to send a great big thank you to the creative teams involved with making Savage Tales and Raise the Dead successes. The creative teams for both titles, the writers, artists, colorists and cover artists, really came together to produce over the top stories with "dynamite" artwork!"

Savage Tales is a new anthology series from Dynamite featuring a rotating cast of characters from the savage and brutal worlds of Red Sonja and the Hunter, Cthulhu and the Old Ones, Atlantis and more-all by an array of the industries top creators.
Raise The Dead is an all-new original horror series from writers Leah Moore and John Reppion with art by Dynamite's latest up and coming artistic sensation Hugo Petrus! The story is a fast paced tale that hits the ground running in a grim world on the brink of being overrun by the living dead. Each issue of Raise the Dead is available with horrific covers by Arthur Suydam and Sean Phillips, both of Marvel Zombie fame!
Reviews for Savage Tales and Raise the Dead have been outstanding:
Troy Brownfield reviewed both Savage Tales #1 and Raise the Dead #1 for Newsarama, "A throwback to the notion of the magazine-style anthologies, Savage Tales separates itself from its pulpy forebears with sterling production. This thing just looks beautiful. Each of the varied covers by Arthur Suydam, Mel Rubi, and Richard Isanove is terrific; while Rubi's is a bit more contemporary, Suydam and Isanove really (and successfully) try to convey that old magazine feel. Within the covers are four stories, two of which are set in the ‘Sonjaverse'. The other two deal with familiar fantasy tropes: Atlantis, and the Cthulhu mythos."

On Raise the Dead, Troy stated, "Reppion and Moore know their way around a zombie apocalypse. The first issue opens in chaos and confusion, with the party well underway and a group of characters already under siege. I like this approach, as I would rather focus on the character dynamics that occur when the dead go walkabout than ponderously build up some pseudo-scientific explanation why."
And, according to Matthew McLean's review of Raise the Dead on silverbulletcomics.com, "The first issue of Raise the Dead employs an interesting narrative technique by flinging the reader right into the middle of the outbreak, then flashing back to how some of the characters arrived there. This is well done as it breaks up what could have been a boring and standard beginning. A few scenes have some good moments, such as when two children, trapped in their home, watch a zombie listlessly bang on a barred window as it stares at them through the glass. There's just something about the scene that conveys certain inevitability, which is one of the scarier things about the zombie genre. They're coming to get you, Barbara."
