The creators of "Shadowgirls" have teamed with Eagle One Media to bring thousands of print copies of their hit webcomic to conventions coast to coast all summer long.

Thanks to Eagle One Media, this full-sized convention special features the complete first issue of "Shadowgirls" for free. It also features a striking new cover by fan-favorite artist Steven Cummings and introduces the characters that took the Web by storm two years ago.  Eagle One Media creates and distributes animated comics on DVD. Its latest release, "Street Fighter: Round One - FIGHT!" is based on the legendary franchise by CAPCOM and the bestselling comic book series by Udon.

"We have a long-term goal, and that is to create readers," writer and co-creator David A. Rodriguez said about the giveaway. "We have more than 10 full-color issues on the Web in the first season alone. Our summer convention special offers a jumping-on point as we gear up for Season Two."One or both of the creators will be available at five conventions this summer, starting June 19 to 21 at Wizard World Philadelphia and ending August 13 to 16 at Gen Con Indy."Traditional comic book readers like their books in print, so this is like our gateway drug," artist and co-creator Dave Reynolds said. "We're presenting our story in a format they're used to, and then if they like what they see, they can track it down online."

A numbered, limited-edition, 11x17 print of the gorgeous cover pencils also will be available for purchase as a companion piece to the convention special. Don't miss your chance to participate in the "Shadowgirls" Free Comic Book Summer and get your hands on this one-of-a-kind print! About 'Shadowgirls'

"Shadowgirls" chronicles the adventures of Charon and Rebecca McKay. At the tender age of fifteen, Charon McKay disappears from the small coastal town of Innsmouth. When she turns up nine months later, she is incoherent, raving and--slightly more surprising--pregnant. No one knows who the father is and even Charon is unable to remember what happened to her. The only thing people know for sure is that she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Rebecca Sue McKay, and both she and her mother are decidedly strange. In fact, most people stay away from them entirely. But Charon and Becka have more immediate worries. Strange creatures have appeared in Innsmouth and awakened dark and terrifying powers within the girls. Only the Shadowgirls can stand against this ancient threat…if the power doesn’t consume them first.Check out "Shadowgirls" for free at http://www.shadowgirlscomic.com/comics/welcome.
