Jim Hanley's Universe, a New York City based comic store, is proud to welcome comic writer, Dan Slott, in celebration of his new comic, AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE, on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Dan Slott is known for injecting humor into typically serious superhero books, as seen in his past work on THE THING, BATMAN ADVENTURES and monthly in SHE-HULK. Slott and artist, Stefano (Young Avengers/Runaways) Caselli (who will not be appearing), will be taking a look at the Marvel Universe post-CIVIL WAR with AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE.
"AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE…I'm not saying who wins Civil War – I'm not saying that at all," the writer began, "But I will say that there are Pro-Registration heroes, and Anti-Registration heroes, and that for every single guy that registered, there is a price to pay. That price to pay is the Initiative. Whether you knew it or not when you registered, by signing that little slip of paper, you've been back-door drafted. If you signed up, you're falling in when you're called. Marvel's army of super-heroes is now a super-hero army." [from Newsarama.com]
"You'd be hard pressed to find a creator with such talent and such courtesy as Dan Slott," said Ron Hill, Store Director of Operations. "We think that Slott's AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE will make the Legion of Superheroes look like kindergarten!"
