Frequency Press is proud to announce the publication of DRIVE, the debut graphic novel from writer Nate Southard and artist Shawn Richter. The book also marks the first publication from Frequency Press.

"DRIVE is a fun story, and one I always wanted to tell," says Southard, who has previously had several stories published both online and in print. "A cabbie, some working Joe just trying to make that dollar, picks up a fare and suddenly finds himself looking down the barrel of a gun. It’s something you’ve seen before in many a movie, maybe even a few cartoons, but I wanted to go further. I decided to stick with that average Joe, to find out what happens to him because of this hijacking, and maybe see if he can find a way to turn it to his advantage."

The result? "Well, you get car chases and crashes, a bag of narcotics, a best friend and a girlfriend, two crooked cops, a burnt out Mafia heavy, and a whole lot of violence," says Southard. "It’s good, fun family entertainment."

Southard is pleased to have Shawn Richter (VOX LONDONIUM, FUSION), who makes his North American comics debut, handling the art chores on DRIVE. The duo met on the Penciljack.com message boards.

Topping off DRIVE is an introduction written by publisher, writer, and workingman guru Larry Young (ASTRONAUTS IN TROUBLE, TRUE FACTS). "DRIVE is a frenetic slam-bang ride from start to finish," proclaims Larry. "If you like a little action with your adventure and a little crime with your punishment, Nate and Shawn have just the book for you."

Early word of mouth for DRIVE has been absolutely glowing. Randy Lander (TheFourthRail.com) says DRIVE "reads like the lovechild of Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino (with just a touch of James L. Brooks)," while Brian Wood (THE COURIERS, DEMO) swears the book packs all the force of "a dude in a mullet driving like a demon and kicking the ass of anyone in his way."

DRIVE retails for $11.95 and is available through FM Distribution, Cold Cut Distribution, and the Frequency Press website at www.frequencypress.com.
