20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer didn't miss its mark with an opening weekend gross of $57.4 million, outperforming the franchise's original released in 2005 by $1.3 million. FF2 now stands as the top opener on a Father's Day weekend of all time.

Fox Senior VP and General Sales Manager Chris Aronson said "It was split across the board between families and nonfamilies and among every age group," said Chris Aronson. In other Marvel Studios news, Spider-Man 3 rounded out the Box Office Top 10 and has grossed $330 million domestically in seven weekends.
