Gunpowder Press and Speakeasy Comics are proud to unveil 10 stunning pages from their upcoming series The Black Coat: A Call to Arms.

The pages, from issue #1 of the 4-issue mini, mark the debut of not only the title character but also the talented creative team behind him. Newcomers Ben Lichius and Adam Cogan provide the story while the artwork is being handled by Francesco Francavilla.

"We're excited to show off these pages" says Ben Lichius, who is also the book's co-creator and editor. "There aren't a whole lot of comics out there right now that are offering what we have to offer. The art is terrific and like nothing else on the shelf. The stories are intense. The characters are exciting and just plain cool… When you put all those things together, I really feel that we can strike a chord with just about anyone that reads and enjoys comics. If you give the book a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed."

Lichius also added a statement to retailers, saying "We know it's hard for retailers to take a chance on a new book, especially with the large number of comics coming out right now. So, for any retailer who wants to see more, just send me an email (ben@the-black-coat.com). We have the entire first issue available for you to read… online… right now! Lots of retailers around the country have already jumped at the chance and the response has been very positive. We understand how important it is for retailers to be able to make informed decisions, so we're doing everything we can to give them the opportunity with The Black Coat."
