The Black Coat's blend of matinee-style action and classic horror elements, combined with its Revolutionary War setting and distinctive visual style has created a unique comic experience that reviewers are calling "...one damn, cool-as-hell, old-school-style, pulp adventurer comic."
Issue #2's solicitation reads:
The Black Coat seeks revenge for the murder of one of his agents. But who is the butcher that killed her and what does he want? More importantly, why can't he be killed? The Black Coat is in for the fight of his life while his second in command, Ursula Morgan, tracks down a traitor within the Knights of Liberty.
