Broken Frontier

Baeg Tobar (www.baegtobar.com), a premiere online, shared world community of creators of fiction and art, announces that the first of its ongoing serial novels has been completed. The Brayburn Jar wrapped up this month with the posting of its last chapter, "The Tortured Bards."  Written by Joseph Wise, who is also author of the webcomic The Fall of Pileaus, the story has been one of Baeg Tobar's anchor novels since its first posted chapter in January, 2005.

"This has been a great experience," said Joseph Wise of his experience writing the serial. "Every chapter gave me a chance to live in the world of Baeg Tobar for a while, and I'll miss it. I'm grateful for the wonderful artists who helped make it even more vivid than I could imagine."

Fifteen illustrations, fourteen of them full color and one a black-and-white piece, were created to accompany each chapter of The Brayburn Jar by illustrators including Jenn Lee, Jeff Cram, Cliff Kurowski, and Ian Mullen. Ramiro Diaz Legaspe worked as the colorist on the series. "It's been great working with Joseph on The Brayburn Jar and I think it is an excellent example of the quality of work that we've managed to achieve with Baeg Tobar," says founder and owner Jeremy Mohler.  "I'm almost sad that he's wrapped the story up, but I'm also quite ecstatic to have our first full novel completed.  I think this is a sign of good things to come!"

Readers who haven't finished The Brayburn Jar should be sure to catch up on the chapters soon. The story will remain available, and free, for only a short time more before being removed and prepared for sale. Baeg Tobar continues to update stories and webcomics weekly at www.baegtobar.com.

The Brayburn Jar:

A Taint has been spreading in the south mountains of Thila.  The citadel of Elianimos, once site of a great battle, has for many years been unapproachable, and haunted.  But the land around it is quickly being consumed with the same affliction.  Few dare set eyes upon this place, and the only thing that can be done to stop this, has been deemed impossible.  Until now.

As the Pilean Empire expands, a new colonial relationship has been established with the northern island of Layleal.  The natives of Layleal tell stories of their strange home, and in these tales something familiar is heard.  There is an old connection between Layleal, and the tragedies of Elianimos, and the location of the Brayburn Jar has finally been uncovered.  Only with this can Elianimos be calmed again.

But in righting a very old wrong, a terrifying dilemma will be unraveled, and a difficult choice will have to be made.
