Looking to break into the comics industry? Arcana Studio and the red-hot horror western SUNDOWN: ARIZONA have your ticket, with not one, but TWO contests for both artists and writers!
Here's the deal. Writers, we want to hear your best "around-the-campfire" horror story. Any subject, any time period, so long as it takes place in the west, gets in and out in 800 words or less, and scares us enough to keep the lights on! SUNDOWN: ARIZONA's going to be one of the top horror titles of 2005, and we want you to bring your best work to stand toe-to-toe with ours!
We want you to give us your best pinup based on the characters of SUNDOWN: ARIZONA. Visit http://www.arcanastudio.com/sundown for a look at the covers to the series, and http://www.jaybusbee.com/sundown for some sample pages!
Our characters:
WILL DALTON: The fella in glasses, he's one of the stars of SUNDOWN: ARIZONA. He's a New York City preacher who's come west to investigate a rash of preacher killings and finds himself facing a horror he couldn't possibly have imagined!
CLAY DALTON: Will's older brother and the sheriff of the small town of Sobrante, Arizona. Clay's a reluctant sheriff, but push him too far and you'll regret it — if you're lucky to live that long.
THE VAMPIRES: Vicious beasts from the mines, these vampires ain't no New Orleans fops. They're hairless, brutal, and nasty, and the only thing they hate more than the sunlight, is you.
So what's in it for you? Winner gets the glory of seeing his or her work published in SUNDOWN: ARIZONA #3, to be published in September 2005, along with original art from the series! And all entrants receive a copy of the script to SUNDOWN: ARIZONA #1, on sale this July!
So bring your best game, in any medium! Artists, post your entries to the
SUNDOWN: ARIZONA forum at Arcana Studio, and email them to sundownmail@comcast.net. Writers, email your entries to sundownmail@comcast.net; we'll select some of the best to post! All contest entries are due by midnight Pacific time, July 18. Enter early and often! All entries will remain the property of the creator. Send any questions to sundownmail@comcast.net.
For more info on SUNDOWN: ARIZONA, check out the Arcana mini-site, the recent Newsarama article, and the S:A FAQ at http://www.jaybusbee.com/sundown.htm!
