The remainder of The Hero Initiative’s Ultimate Spider-Man #100 original covers are going up for auction on Ebay starting the week of May 21!
That’s right….you’ve seen them at conventions or ogled them online and NOW is your chance to own a piece of history and benefit an amazing cause, The Hero Initiative.
Among the first covers to hit Ebay will be the Todd McFarlane cover, which has caused considerable frenzy from fans and talent alike.
To recap, more than 80 talented artists were tapped to do a sketch on the blank cover of Ultimate Spider-Man #100 created specifically for The Hero Initiative. Reaction from the artistic community was so overwhelming that some artists insisted on doing two covers.
Proceeds from auctions will continue to support Hero’s effort of providing a financial safety net for yesterdays' creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work.
The remaining pieces include covers by Bachalo, Bone, Buscema, Campbell, Cheung, Cho, Alan Davis, del Toro, Deodato, Frenz, Gaiman/Rubenstein, Garney, J.G. Jones, the Kubert brothers, Kunkel, Land, Jae Lee, Leonardi, Linsner, Manapul, McFarlane, McGuinness, Mooney, Terry Moore, Perez, Quitely, Humberto Ramos, Romita Jr., Sava, Sherberger, Tan, Texeira, Trimpe, Wagner and others.
Art expert Bill Cox of Comicartfans.com said, “Comicartfans.com has been thrilled to help promote these Ultimate Spidey covers for the Hero Initiative. Not only are the proceeds going towards such a worthy cause as supporting industry veterans who've made comic art collecting what it is today, but the illustrations done for each cover have been incredible to say the least. The artistic talent that contributed to this endeavor is amazing, and it is no wonder these covers have been selling for such high prices when they are auctioned off. When you've got covers drawn by Frank Cho, Adam and Andy Kubert, and so many other fabulous artists, clearly there will be a lot of interest from potential buyers, and these pieces are certain to maintain their value over time.”
Auction winners not only get a fantastic collectible, but CGC will do free slabbing for the remaining USM #100s!
“I am proud to offer our certification service to anyone who buys these wonderful one-of-a-kind comic books.” Said CGC’s president and primary grader Steve Borock. “The prestigious CGC Signature Series label and the case not only help these comic books look great, but much more important, they help to protect them. These are great comic books and we at CGC want to do whatever we can to help such a great and important cause as The Hero Initiative.”
