Virgin Comics LLC announced today that they have recruited Seymour Miles as Senior Vice President Sales and Publishing, responsible for the production, distribution, sales and marketing of Virgin Comics titles throughout North America and the United Kingdom. Miles will also oversee advertising sales for Virgin Comics publications.

Virgin Comics will launch during 2006 with the publication of three comic imprints: Shakti, a line of Indianinfused titles; Director’s Cut featuring stories developed in conjunction with Shekhar Kapur, John Woo and other filmmakers; and Maverick produced with leading writers and other leading creators.

“Seymour brings a wealth of experience and a global perspective that is vital to our vision. We look forward to his contribution to help us establish a new voice in the character entertainment industry,” said Virgin Comics CEO, Sharad Devarajan.

For the past ten years, Miles led the marketing department at Wizard Entertainment, directing their public relations and advertising efforts, building its ad sales team, and working closely with its President and new business group to launch properties, products and business extensions, including its WizardWorld convention events.

Seymour Miles began his comic book career in 1990 at the nascent Valiant where he was part of the publishing team that exploded into the marketplace, creating the third largest domestic publisher of comic books in two years. He later moved to DC Comics as Associate Publisher, where he oversaw the company’s advertising sales initiatives and helped create the mass-market line, Paradox Press, which included The Big Books series and acclaimed graphic novels such as Road to Perdition.
