There’s danger lurking in the shadows of the old west, only it isn’t bandits or renegades or the harsh landscape itself. It’s something much, much worse.
Former expressman Seth Collins finds himself on his last ride, to a remote town called Silver Branch, that’s found itself under attack by something neither wolf nor man, but somehow both. He may have survived the Civil War and years of riding shotgun on the express routes, but nothing has prepared Collins for what he faces tonight, as he rides headlong into the Strangeways.
Beautifully illustrated by newcomer Luis Guaragna with writing by Matt (Full Bleed, Highway 62 and Hard Knocks) Maxwell, Strangeways debuts with the storyline “Murder Moon”, bringing western thrills and horror chills in stark black and white. Stunning covers by Steve (Gotham Central, Road to Perdition, Whiteout) Lieber and a special pin-up by Guy (BPRD, The Marquis) Davis round out the first issue of this ongoing series.
Strangeways #1 ships in November (DCD ITEM #SEP053097) with each issue offered at a suggested retail price of $2.50.
Here's how the book is described on the Speakeasy website:
In the Old West, the greatest danger isn’t bullets or bandits, but...werewolves? Former expressman Seth Collins doesn’t know it yet, but he’s blazing a trail right into the deepest shadows. And out here, the shadows have teeth!
Written by Matt Maxwell and gorgeously illustrated in black and white by talented newcomer Luis Guaraña, Strangeways features covers by Steve (Road to Perdition, Batman, Whiteout) Lieber and a rotating selection of pin-up art by some of today's most talented artists, starting with BRPD's Guy Davis! Western action blended with horror thrills, with neither being compromised.
