Top Cow Productions released the official preview trailer for the upcoming manga event, Witchblade Manga today. Anticipation has been building for the release of the first issue of Witchblade Manga #1 in February 2007. The top notch video trailer for the series, which highlights both black and white and new colored artwork, has debuted on YouTube and Revver.com simultaneously and was already tracking with incredibly high view rates prior to an official release announcement.
The video trailer was produced by Matthew Swift of SwiftGraphic LLC and is anticipated to be the first of many official Top Cow video trailers. Witchblade Manga #1 marks a unique partnership between American and Japanese publishers. As previously announced, the close relationship between Top Cow and Studio GONZO (Afro Samurai, Trinity Blood) has resulted in the Witchblade Anime and the Witchblade Manga, with the original manga publisher and artist giving their permission for Top Cow to reformat and color the original manga for US release. The manga featured an entirely unique Witchblade bearer, named Takeru created by Yasuko Kobayashi, head story writer for the Witchblade Anime and artist, Kazasa Sumita. The series was published in Japan by Akita Shoten as part of their Champion Red line. Takeru, an average high school student, is confronted by the Witchblade in the monastery she was raised in and like so many bearers before her is confronted with whether she controls the mystical Witchblade or if it controls her.
The Witchblade Manga trailer can be viewed on YouTube at or on Revver.
“In this case, I think the trailer speaks for itself”, said Filip Sablik, Vice President of Marketing & Sales, “And we want to know what the fans think! If you like it, post a comment or video response on YouTube or send it to a friend”.
