Dynamite Entertainment today announced details concerning the first issue of the all-new, comic book event starring Xena, the Warrior Princess! The comic book is developed through a licensing agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group.
“We’ve really got a good thing going here with this creative team,” commented Dynamite Spokesperson J. Allen “John Layman has handed in scripts that we absolutely LOVE! The pages from Fabiano for issue #1 are AMAZING! And as if that were not enough, we’ve signed up Richard Isanove to color issue #1 up – FANTASTIC!”
But a strong creative team is only part of what Dynamite is bringing to the table for the debut of issue #1, Allen continued: “We decided to do something a little different with how we’re offering issue #1. So, we’re guaranteeing that issue #1 of Xena will ship in the month of July, or it will be FREE. That’s right, F-R-E-E!” continued Allen. “With this guarantee, fans can look for the first issue of this special Xena event in stores in July.”
(Dynamite suggests that inquiring direct market retailers consult their Customer Service Representatives for exact details of this promotion.)
With a strong marketing plan in place, it falls to writer John Layman to deliver the goods. So what does he have planned for his series? “It take place after the series, but I'm not going to tie it too deep into continuity, at least in the first story-arc. Of course, there will also be “easter eggs” for hardcore fans, but I want this to be initially as accessible as possible for the greatest amount of people.”
Issue #1 will be in stores in July -- Don’t Miss It!
XENA #1 (MAY063032): WRITTEN BY JOHN LAYMAN WITH ART BY FABIANO NEVES -- 1ST ISSUE COLORED BY RICHARD ISANOVE – ALONG WITH COVER ART BY BILLY TAN (50%), FABIANO NEVES (25%) AND PHOTO COVER (25%)!
Xena’s back and Dynamite’s got her! This month, Dynamite launches a special Xena event, featuring writer John (Red Sonja/Claw) Layman and artist Fabiano Neves!
Issue #1 covers featuring great creators and a photo of the leading lady herself – one by Billy Tan with colorist Peter Steigerwald, one by interior artist Fabiano Neves and the other a photo cover of the stunning Lucy Lawless – Xena and her well-loved cast of friends and villains get in between a feud that reaches all the way up to the heavens as they fight in the “Contest of Pantheons” featuring Xena, Gabriele, Joxer, Autolycus and the return of Callisto!
As part of this special launch, Dynamite is ensuring ON-TIME Delivery, with a special offer that guarantees the first issue to ship on time or it’s FREE to retailers (RETAILERS: check with Diamond Customer Service for more details)!
