VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, has announced the addition of the hit anime series ZATCH BELL!™ to the repertoire of programming available for streaming on Toonami Jetstream.
Toonami Jetstream (available at http://ToonamiJetstream.com) is a joint venture between VIZ Media and Cartoon Network under the branding of Cartoon Network’s successful Toonami action-adventure television franchise. The site provides on-demand, full-length streaming episodes of a number of hit anime and action series and has attracted millions of viewers since its launch in 2006. The addition of ZATCH BELL! expands the extensive roster of VIZ Media and other anime properties already being offered. SAMURAI JACK, NARUTO, MÄR, THE PRINCE OF TENNIS, HIKARU NO GO and POKéMON: The Johto Journeys are currently featured and Episode 3 of ZATCH BELL!, “The Second Spell!,” is now available. New episodes will be uploaded every week.
The series was the recent recipient of two American Anime Awards in February for Best Male Actor in a Comedy and Best Actress in a Comedy, and the wild mix of action and out-of-this-world characters has made the show a hit among 9-14 year olds – a key Cartoon Network demographic.
ZATCH BELL! is based on the popular manga series by Makoto Raiku (also published in North America by VIZ Media) and tells the story of Kiyo, a brilliant 14 year-old boy who dislikes school and has no friends. His father sends him a special gift to help him: a strange little boy with a mysterious book of spells named Zach Bell. Through friendship and teamwork, Kiyo and Zatch discover that he is from the mamodo world, and must use his awesome powers, released from the spell book, to defend themselves an amazing collection of other mamodo, all competing to become King of the mamodo world.
“ZATCH BELL! has been a hit with Cartoon Network viewers and we look forward to new as well as established fans of the series being able to watch episodes whenever they like on Toonami Jetstream,” says Miho Suzuki, Senior Director, Home Entertainment, VIZ Media. “Broadband internet delivery of anime has proved to be a highly successful vehicle for attracting new fans to our series. VIZ Media is committed to utilizing this technology to its fullest potential and to working with Cartoon Network to deliver the best in anime programming to domestic audiences.”
