The rare 50-page ‘Zen: Bounty Hunter' story can now be read in its entirety online at www.zenintergalacticninja.com.
“Fans have written to us, trying to find this story, in which Zen literally grows a more humanoid face,” said Steve Stern, who created the character with artist Dan Cote in 1987.
Until the publication of ‘Zen: Bounty Hunter’ Zen’s only facial feature had been his large, alien eyes. The appearance overnight of two new orifices—a nose and a mouth—comes as a delayed result of the genetic experiment in which he was created.
“It takes Zen’s robotic sidekick, Unit 64-H—better known as Tinhead—to figure out what happened,” Cote said. “And that’s only the first of a couple of surprises contained in this story.”
‘Zen: Bounty Hunter’ is written by Stern, with art by longtime Zen-artist Bill Maus. Also available at the newly-revamped Zen website is the official origin of the alien hero, with art by Tatsuya Ishida.
