Cindy Margolis, the most downloaded woman on the Internet, is known around the world for her stunning, sexy cover shots and pictorials. In April, the blonde beauty is going to become even more popular as her image reaches into the homes of comic books fans around the world. I had a chance to sneak a few questions into Cindy’s busy schedule and discuss her roll as the cover model for the new 10th Muse miniseries.
BF: I’m unfamiliar with all of the tasks involved with your roll as a cover model. What exactly does your job entail as the new model for 10th Muse?
Cindy Margolis: Well, my main job is to see that everyone is aware of the 10th Muse comic and what a great heroine she is…by doing interviews like this, posting info on my web site, [www.cindymargolis.com] and talking about the 10th Muse when I’m doing TV or radio interviews.
BF: What was it like dressing up in that 10th Muse costume? Or having your image modified to get that painted, other-worldly comic book look?
CM: Actually, I haven't tried on the costume yet, but Darren Davis [creator of The 10th Muse] has promised I will have the chance to do so in the near future. Darren and his crew modified the images I sent them. They tweaked a few things here and there, and presto, I became the 10th Muse!
BF: So you haven't been in the costume yet? How did that work? Did you send several shots to Darren that you already had done, or did you have a shoot designed around 10th Muse and those shots were used?
CM: We actually combined the best of both worlds. With my busy schedule what we did was send Darren a group of hi-res pictures to select from. Plus, I did a special 10th Muse shoot here in LA where the images were only submitted to Darren and nowhere else. Hey, maybe the pics from this shoot will become collectors items!
BF: You’re a world-renowned cover model and you’ve been on the cover of some very well known and highly circulated magazines. With your extensive resume, what’s it like being chosen to be the cover model for a comic book, a media type that hasn’t yet totally broken out of its "that’s kid stuff" phase?
CM: It's a great feeling. I'm still a kid at heart and love doing things that make me feel young. To be associated with a comic book like The 10th Muse is the ultimate because not many models get chosen to do something like this. Not even Paris Hilton has been a comic book cover girl!
BF: [laughs] That's true, Paris Hilton has never been a comic cover girl. I know you were partially joking but is there a feeling of competition at all with you? Meaning, do you take particular notice of the things you've managed to do in your career, things that maybe only a handful of others have done, such as being a comic book cover girl?
CM: I'd be lying if I said I didn't take notice. The way that show business works nowadays, especially the world of modeling, there are only so many opportunities to get noticed and expand and solidify your career. Diversification in what you choose to do certainly plays a big part of your success in the realm of Hollywood. But, no matter what, I would never have turned down the chance to be the 10th Muse!
BF: Were there any differences in how you prepared for posing for the 10th Muse shots vs. say, a men's magazine in which you're wearing a swimsuit or revealing evening gown?
CM: Not really. The 10th Muse is sexy in her own way and it's really a matter of attitude when you are posing for any shot. Whether it's the cover of Sports Illustrated or the cover of a comic book, it's totally mental. If you feel sexy, you'll come across that way.
BF: You’re the most downloaded woman on the Internet, so your fanbase must be huge. I'm sure your fans come in all shapes and sizes, but there are some "interesting" characters out there in comic fandom. I've even heard some celebrities talk about being overwhelmed at comic conventions. Are you prepared for the new popularity with that crowd?
CM: My Internet fanbase is quite large and at times I have done appearances at malls and conventions that have gotten pretty crazy. But I did do some appearances for the WWE so I'm used to devoted, loyal, rabid fans! I think I'll have a blast with my 10th Muse comic book buddies!
BF: With your busy schedule, do you think you'll have time to interact with your newfound comic book friends? If so, how?
CM: Well, once the 10th Muse comic cover comes out on April 10th, I'm sure my e-mails will reflect that. I will make every attempt to answer questions and mail from my comic cyber-buddies and I will also do radio interviews and personal appearances to promote my association with Darren Davis and the 10th Muse. I'd like to see the 10th Muse get her own TV series and her own collection of memorabilia so the fans can keep on enjoying this great comic book heroine.
This interview took place via e-mail between Thursday, February 4 and Saturday, February 6, 2005.
