Today at ECCC Tim Seeley announced the move of fan favorite Hack/Slash to Image Comics. BF was fast to track him down!
Slashers.....
You know the genre....
Some masked nut case chases down and creatively murders a group of attractive teenagers with poor decision making skills, who have unleashed the killer's repressed psychosexual anger.
These movies are associated with popcorn fun. They're low brow entertainment to take a hot date too.
But for Cassie Hack, this ain't no popcorn movie.
Cassie, the daughter of the notorious Slasher, the Lunch Lady, travels the world with her monstrous partner, Vlad, hunting and destroying Slashers where ever they may be, whatever form they may take.
BROKEN FRONTIER: Today at the Emerald City Comicon you presented your title Hack/Slash at Image. Congratulations are in order. A surprise move for sure. At least for us fans! How do you see that yourself?
TIM SEELEY: It's a natural evolution for me. I've been working with Image on a lot of other stuff, and this gives me a chance to bring H/S to more readers!
BF: You started that title at Devil's Due Publishing. What motivated the move to Image Comics? Was it due to your experience with them via Loaded Bible: Jesus vs. Vampires?
TS: It's really just a bunch of business and financial issues that are boring and not fun. But, in the end, this is best for me, Josh [Blaylock], DDP and Hack/Slash.
BF: What are your plans at Image Comics? Any compendia planned?
TS: We'll be bringing all the omnibi and trades to Image, and reprint whatever is sold out. The first series we do at Image is a four issue mini called My First Maniac.
BF: What a thrill! Who are the current and/or future artists on Hack/Slash?
TS: The Image run begins with my DDP Hack/Slash artists Dan Leister and Mark Englert!
BF: One of the (many) strong points of Hack/Slash has surely been the powerful crossovers Vlad and Cassie Hack have been having? Any plans on new crossovers?
TS: Not right off the bat..but I have some ideas.
BF: What would a dream crossover (comic wise) be for you?
TS: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! They 're the original indie comics superstars. Or any of the Marvel horror characters. Man-Thing!
BF: What would a dream crossover (movie character or other fictional character) be for you?
TS: Jason Voorhees o' course!
BF: Talking about movies... Beyond your publishing ideas on Hack/Slash, do you have any news on the plans for the movie?
TS: The only new thing I've heard is that the studio commenced the rewrite and are still working on the movie!
BF: I have also heard rumors about Loaded Bible: Jesus vs. Vampires getting a movie-treatment. Any truth on that?
TS: Ha..that would be a fucked up movie.
I'm working with an animation company to do an animated comic film...
