Infrequency
Just when we thought Warner Bros could be trusted… this happens.  Earlier this week, the WB officially announced that the much-anticipated Global Frequency television series (based on Warren Ellis’s acclaimed comic) is not being picked up. According to creator Warren Ellis the decision has little to do with the pilot’s quality. “No-one thinks it's a bad show. It simply didn't fit with current thinking at The WB,” says Ellis.  The studio is currently seeking other venues for the series.

Sexy Sin
If the impressive writing, directing and casting choices of Dimension’s upcoming Sin City feature didn’t pique your interest, maybe some pretty pictures will do the trick.

Baby Geniuses + Ace Ventura - Jim Carrey = Son of the Mask
A new full-length trailer for Jamie Kennedy’s Son of the Mask showed up online this week.  Those fans that cared enough to download the trailer have learned quite a lesson in restraint.  We won’t be making that mistake again, now will we?  See for yourself.

Fantastic Four Come and Gone
Quick clicking fans got their first glimpse of the upcoming Fantastic Four feature online last week.   Several websites hosted a video containing a few seconds of each character displaying his/her power.  Unfortunately, the shelf life was brief.  Like so many clips before it, the FF footage was snatched away by less-than-enthusiastic studio executives.  Apparently the video was unused test footage and deemed unrepresentative of the movie’s look.  As if we care.

Two Guys, A Girl and a Whole Mess of Vampires
As Blade: Trinity’s December 8th release date approaches, fans are getting some insight into the franchise’s newest characters.  Speaking on a panel at Wizard World Texas, director David Goyer delved into the sugar and spice that make up Jessica Beil’s Abigail Whistler.  “She's emotionally shut down and all she cares about is killing,” Goyer told fans, “She doesn't have time for a boyfriend. She just wants to kill, kill, kill."  In other words, Mary Camden she isn’t.

Trinity’s other new star, Van Wilder’s Ryan Reynolds, is rumored to be up for the title role in a proposed Deadpool adaptation. This totally unsubstantiated news comes in the wake of several hundred thousand quickly debunkged Internet rumors and should be considered “iffy.”  While we’re speculating, Reynolds name has also come up in conjunction with a film based on DC’s The Flash.  This guy really gets around.

Batman Buzz Kill
Batman Begins Screenwriter David Goyer (same guy, different movie) recently shot down rumors of a Begins sequel. While there is little doubt that Warner Bros will want to sequelize the Batman reboot, they may have some hiring to do first.  According to Goyer, “We’re really tempted not to do another one, to do the one and walk away . . . I wouldn't do it if [director Christopher Nolan] didn't, and I don't know if Chris would. Why does he need to?”  Because David, if he doesn’t, McG will.

I Don’t Think We’re in Smallville Anymore
Superman director Bryan Singer recently discussed his casting choice (for those readers just emerging from behind your rocks, soap star Brandon Routh has been cast as the Technicolor Boy Scout) with radio personalities Kevin and Bean.   The director didn’t want to cast a personality; he wanted an actor with no previous associations. This part we’ve heard before.  But, Singer added an interesting explanation for passing up Tom Welling.  The director pointed out that, with no disrespect to the show, his is a big budget Superman feature.  Put bluntly, he has no interest in making Smallville: The Movie.  But don’t fret, Welling fans: Smallville: Season 3 is out on DVD next Tuesday.  Listen to Singer on Kevin and Bean.
