Christian Bale Sheds Light on The Dark Knight
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times’ Dish Rag blog, The Dark Knight star Christian Bale talked about stepping into the batsuit for a second time, going one-on-one with Christopher Nolan’s newly imagined Joker and working with the late Heath Ledger on the highly anticipated sequel (latimesblogs.latimes.com, 7/1).
“When he was the Joker he was the Joker throughout, absolute commitment to that. And he’s portrayed him in a way that hasn’t been portrayed before. He has this kind of anarchic, punk, Clockwork Orange approach to it,” said Bale. “He [has] done such a damn good job that if Chris decides to make a third movie, he set himself a real challenge of how do you up the ante with any villain after Heath’s Joker.”
In the interview, Bale also discusses Terminator: Salvation, in which he will play a major role as an older John Connor. He calls that film—the fourth in the series—a “reinvention” of the franchise. Click here to read the full article.
The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18.
The Goon Coming Soon?
An announcement on Eric Powell’s website for The Goon, his popular supernatural series following the adventures of a musclebound mob enforcer, reveals that the comic book may be hitting the big screen sometime in the near future (thegoon.com, 7/2).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Powell would write the screenplay for the feature while David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en), would produce. Academy Award-nominated animation house Blur Studios is slated to bring the series—currently published by Dark Horse Comics—to computer-generated life, making The Goon the company’s first full-length film. Hiding in Time to Come Out of Hiding
Variety reports that Warner Bros. will be adapting Image Shadowline series Hiding in Time, created by Christopher Long. The script will be penned by Beau Thorne, who wrote a film adaptation of the Max Payne video game series to be released later this year. (variety.com, 7/1)
Hiding in Time revolves around a futuristic Witness Protection Program that utilizes time travel to relocate high-profile individuals. However, when the program is compromised, a government scientist and a master thief must evade assassins and save lives as they travel through the biggest events in history. Doc Brown and Marty, eat your hearts out.
