The Oz/Wonderland Chronicles is an adaptation of L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderfull Wizard of Oz" and the 13 stories that followed and Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but it also lends from other children's book. The comicbook series is created by writer Ben Avery and co-writer/artist Casey Heying (story and art).
The story revolves around Dorothy and Alice, who are college roommates in Chicago. They have no memories of Oz or Wonderland but soon must face the new Wicked Witch, the Mad Hatter, the Jabberwocky and many more foes but they do get help from the Scarecrow, Ozma, the Cheshire Cat and Jack Pumpkinhead to name a few.
The comics also feature various variant covers by several artists, including Boris Vallejo, Greg Horn, Arthur Suydam, Glen Orbik, Alex Ross and Joe Jusko.
This last artist joins us today for a step-by-step on the finale issue #4 of The Oz/Wonderland Chronicles.

Background started. Acrylic. No airbrush.
Pillar and arch rendered.
Witch and the Jabberwock rendered
Gump is finished
The magical sofas are rendered, fading them out into the light from above. I'll later be adding a ton of green glass shards as they're crashing through a palace skylight.
First of the flying monkeys is rendered. Creepy little buggers!
All of the characters in the sofa are done (Dorothy, Patchwork Girl, Princess Ozma and Jack Pumpkinhead).
Another shot of Dorothy and friends. Now on to the bottom figures and hopefully a cover with ONE figure next! lol
I don't know about you but I wouldn't wanna piss Alice off!
Rude awakening coming for someone!
Cowardly Lion and the Gnome King. Crappy cell phone pic.
Last update before finishing the piece.
All done! I added the Chesire Cat (which I forgot) behind the witch and decided to leave out the falling glass shards as I think it'll be a bit crowded and confusing at the top, especially after the masthead is attached.
The comic and the full sized poster will be available at BuyMeToys, the publisher of the series.
