If you listen closely to this picture of Dustin Nguyen you can hear Eddie Berganza asking, "Why don't the pages of Superman/Batman come in this fast?"
Eddie Berganza speaks at the beginning of DC's Countdown panel on Friday.
I guess he had to considering the experiment of turning the panel into a conference call with the panel at Heroes Con fell absolutely flat. It was a good idea until they realized that whatever Charlotte cheered Philly would boo. We can't help it, it's in our blood.
See, you can feel Mike Carlin's pain
Later on in Brian Bendis' Q&A Panel, Bendis starts taking bets on who would win the arm wrestling contest between Mike Oeming and David Mack. Mack won, but somehow Bendis collected all the money anyway.
Alex Maleev only had 10 seconds of free time away from sketching and luckily I walked by and got a picture with him.
Back in Artist Alley, Bendis shares his profits from the arm wrestling contest betting with Oeming. I think this means Oeming threw the contest.
Walter and Louise Simonson are pretty much comic royalty at this point. And I'm happy to report that after much pleading by me, Louise Simonson admitted that after writing an upcoming Magic: Arcana book for Marvel, she's getting that itch to get back into comics more often. You can all thank me later.
Thankfully the DC Nation panel didn't try anymore conference calls with Charlotte. They got a lot more cheers this time.
By far the highlight of the show for me was being asked by Wizard to judge to costume contest. I'm thinking maybe it was so they had someone from another website to throw under the bus. But that's what happens when you see 30+ fanboys and girls standing there with weapons in their hands.
So of course I picked the most powerful ones to give awards to.
Runners up Juggernaut and Usaji Yojimbo.
And best of show Soundwave, a costume which took nearly 30 minutes to assemble.
Joe Quesada wants you for the Marvel Army.
And finally, I couldn't leave the show without getting my picture with Guest of Honor Brian Bendis. Thankfully he didn't remember those bad reviews I wrote of his books back in the day.
