Misty Knight calls in a few favors and recruits Iron Fist in the process to help prevent Ricadonna from going through with the auction.

Well, we’re in the home stretch with this series, and I must say this issue alone kicked it up several notches. The crux of the story fell into place quickly and all I am going to say is that a storm is certainly brewing up for a big finish next issue.

This one in particular opened with an orgasmic storm ending in the bedroom, as Misty and Danny Rand blow off steam. Misty needs some back-up so she asks Danny to pinch in and of course he immediately accepts. So with Iron Fist officially joining the girls, the plan of attack is quickly put into motion. From there they pay a visit to the Punisher to borrow additional heavy artillery, and then they persuade the Mole Man to help them tunnel into Ricadonna’s secret hideout. The plan is for all three to basically strike the gathered group of various super-baddies before the bidding starts, despite being badly out-numbered.

Now if that’s not enough to simply blow your mind, then I don’t know what else will do it for you. Again, the writing team of Palmiotti and Gray know how to pace the story and build up to that promised crescendo. They manage to lace the dialogue with witty repartee and load up on the sexual innuendoes with both Misty and Colleen. There’s more than enough here to keep me entertained and titillated at the same time, and I just have to take my hat off to the guys for re-imagining both women into this post-Kill Bill context.

Of course, the strong writing is supported by an artist who keeps getting better and better with each issue. I am talking about newcomer Khari Evans who can flat out tell a great story with a bevy of dynamic panels. At times his style is playful and cute, but he really knows how to get right down to it when grittiness is required. There’s an excellent sequence in the first half of the issue involving Colleen Wing sparring with American Samurai that was drawn frenetically, but it also exemplified the playfulness that I suggested earlier.

Again, I don’t know if I can stress this enough, but Daughters of the Dragon is one heck of a series. All the action is amplified, the characters are sexed up and the plotting moves at a torrent pace. Everything works for me on all levels and this should all come to pass next month, so climb aboard now and get ready for the money shot next issue!
