Activism is a key part of the Broken Frontier ethos which is why we have spent so much time on developing our page of Broken Frontier comics resource lists for socially conscious work, So when we discover like-minded platforms it seems only fitting that, however briefly, we try to give them a signal boost here on the site. Having stumbled upon a link on Bluesky to Little Zine Revolution – a whole website dedicated to curating and distributing anti-colonial zines – it seemed only appropriate to cover both the zine in question and direct our readers to the huge back catalogue of similarly relevant material available to download there.

In this instance the zine in question is We [Palestinians] Are Not Going Away, an 8-page piece compiled by Pleasure Pie, a sex positive education organisation based in Boston, that takes its title from a quote by 84-year-old Nabil Ahmed Izzat Taha: “We [Palestinians] are not going away. We are in this world to stay, and the world is going to have to deal with us.” Zines have a powerful immediacy in terms of their impact and raw honesty, something which is embodied in the stark imagery and haunting words of this particular example. One which centres the voices of Palestinian witnesses to the genocide in Gaza across symbolic illustration and haunting black and white photography.
What is so ably captured here is a dual sense of devastation and defiance. Of giving testimony of the atrocities experienced while refusing to stay silent. “Here lie those who loved life and could not find a way to live it” says one nurse in Gaza as a suggestion for Palestinian gravestones. We [Palestinians] Are Not Going Away is just one of a myriad of zines available on the Little Zine Revolution site on this and numerous other subjects focussing on social justice that can be downloaded, folded and distributed. Add it to your list of vital small press destinations and spread the word.
