Here’s some excellent news for next year. New comics event SCARF (Sheffield Comic ARts Fair) is now open for applications. Indie/small press creators get on this now!
SHEFFIELD COMIC ARTS FAIR OPENS APPLICATIONS
Applications are now open for a new comics event in Sheffield, UK – Sheffield Comic ARts Fair (SCARF), being run by writer/letterer/editor Chris Mole (Secrets of the Majestic).
Taking place at Trafalgar Warehouse (120 Trafalgar St, Sheffield City Centre, S1 4JT), a dedicated event space in the heart of the city on October 10th 2026, SCARF will host around 30 tables for independent and small press creators from Sheffield and further afield. With a focus on indie comics and a commitment to providing an LGBTQ-friendly and explicitly anti-racist/fascist space for creators and punters, it will look to showcase the strong creative culture of the Steel City.
“I’ve thought for years that Sheffield needed something in this space,” said organiser Chris Mole. “We have a large ‘comic-con’ event at the arena but nothing that I could see for creators at the indie level, which is where some of the most exciting and powerful work is done. It’s my hope that this is a lovely, fun day for everyone exhibiting and that the people of Sheffield can enjoy the wealth of talent that the UK comics scene has to offer in a relaxed and friendly environment.”
SCARF will be free entry for the general public, and will feature both a reading corner hosted and curated by Graphic Novel Reading Room (a regular presence on the convention circuit and Sheffield institution) and a licensed bar run by the venue for drinks and refreshments.
The exhibitor application form is open now at this link.
Applications will be taken until January 15th, 2026. The event will be curated to ensure that indie comics are at the forefront, and successful exhibitors will be required to pay the table fee by February 15th.
