Just a quick reminder today of the message you will already have received from our chums on the Thought Bubble team. And a couple of quick notes on FAQs and tips about submitting for our Thought Bubble Month 2025 event.
Firstly, this is not restricted to UK creators. We have had multiple enquiries about that but as you can see below we have been very clear about encouraging international creators. So, submit away! Secondly, if you’re debuting issues of serial comics at Thought Bubble this year please don’t assume we have read the preceding instalments. So, for example, sending us #3 of an ongoing series in isolation won’t work for us. We need to see #1 and #2 as well or we have no context.
And, finally, we are going to do our very best to beat last year’s astonishing tally of Thought Bubble Month coverage but demand looks set to be at unprecedented levels this year. We are more than two months away from the big weekend and we have already had more than 60 requests! Quite frankly we have never known anything like it before in terms of interest. So if we don’t get to you don’t be disappointed. It’s not going to be a reflection on you or your work!
Here’s that message again to remind you of what we’re offering.
For 2025 Broken Frontier will once again be providing an entire month of dedicated TB reviews, interviews and previews. Last year we managed to post a whopping 52 articles for BF’s Thought Bubble Month. Once again the first two weeks will be largely interviews with the second two weeks promoting your work through reviews. To facilitate this, though, we will be needing your help. And the sooner you get your work to us the more it increases your chances of being featured on BF.
Here’s what the team are offering:
Reviews/Previews: We know Thought Bubble is the big event UK creators work towards for debut comics/books so we want to give as much space to them as possible. Our deadline this year to get review copies to us (digital is fine!) to have a realistic chance of coverage is Friday, October 31st. E-mail us at reviews@brokenfrontier.com and put “THOUGHT BUBBLE 2025” at the beginning of your e-mail subject line. Please include the PDF or a link to where we can download the comic, along with three higher-res pages that we can use in the body of the review or run as a potential preview instead if we don’t get to a full review.
All work is welcome regardless of genre, style or theme, and special consideration will be given to material from marginalised creators.
Interviews: We will be curating a number of short, 6-question interviews to run at the start of our coverage but would be keen to hear from international creators in particular for possible interview features, especially if they haven’t had coverage on BF before and may not have new comics debuting at Thought Bubble. These would be conducted by e-mail in September ready to start running from the second half of October.
The key point is that the earlier review copies come in the more we can feature on the site. We will be working as far in advance this year as possible so that we are ready to go when Thought Bubble Month begins in October with a constant stream of TB goodness. We won’t get to everyone – Thought Bubble is just too huge an event for our small team in that regard – but we will do our very best to give as representative a sampling of work as possible.
Any questions please e-mail Andy at andyoliver@brokenfrontier.com Looking forward to hearing from you!
