THOUGHT BUBBLE MONTH 2026! Nick Bryan is a London-based writer who brings a second volume of his lively science fiction anthology, The Collected Letters of Courier Z to this year’s Thought Bubble. This time collaborating with a strong international cast of artists: Flo Woolley, Len Gogos, Elena Cerisciola, Elena Artese and Jodi Perez.
The Collected Letters of Courier Z Volume 2 follows sometimes legitimate Courier Zara Z in a variety of stories and art styles. ‘Music Fascism’ (below), with art by UK artist Flo Woolley, introduces two teenagers who have contracted Courier Z to deliver a banned album to them through a barricaded war zone where the dictator of the planet only allows music by his favorite band, Forkhead. Courier Z can’t help herself, and chastises the kids for wasting their money on something as frivolous as music. The two kids turn on Courier Z and bully her mercilessly, leading to some hilarious interactions. The seventh story page is a gritty scene of a riot going on, with a funny panel of Courier Z furiously making her way down the middle of the panel, her path marked by a cartoon dotted line. Woolley’s art has a naturally scratchy style, more character-oriented than science fiction, they still do a great job depicting Bryan’s sort of silly dystopia in a few pages.
Following that story, is the change of pace ‘Postwomen’ (below) with art by Greek artist, Len Gogos. Bryan tells so many different stories in his universe, this one is Courier Z on her downtime going to a Courier’s convention and networking (getting sloppy drunk). Despite trying to make legit contacts and go straight Courier Z ends ends up hooking up with sketchy fellow courier, Kirsten. There is obvious chemistry as the two pull a grift on a fellow convention goer. Despite wanting to walk the straight and narrow, Courier Z can’t help herself. Gogos is the perfect choice for this story, his elongated figures and wonderful facial expressions really elevate the ineractions between the cast.
Special shout-out to letterer D.C. Hopkins and colorist A.H.G.! Both keep the look of The Collected Letters of Courier Z Volume 2 consistent through five different artists and five very different stories. This level of skill and passion sets the book apart.
