Sometimes a press release comes in that allows us to revisit previous Broken Frontier material and celebrate the work of a comics great. We can do that today with the announcement of the new website for the work of Carol Swain (Invasion of the Mindsappers, Foodboy, Gast).

Broken Frontier’s Andy Oliver interviewing Carol Swain at Comica Festival
Back in 2014 Tom Murphy wrote this excellent spotlight piece on Swain’s work (which we get to link to for the second time in a year!) talking about her practice from the 1980s and how she “takes us into the lives of characters who live in the edgelands, physically, socially, culturally or psychologically.” Tom also reviewed her most recent full-length graphic novel Gast from Fantagraphics here at BF.
With the ever excellent Dark & Golden leading something of a Swain revival, including the previously unpublished Another Way Out and an entry in their 2x series, the time is clearly right for readers new to her work to investigate further.
More about the website in the press release below…
We are pleased to announce the launch of the official website for acclaimed UK comics creator Carol Swain:
For the first time, fans will be able to contact Carol directly, and purchase original signed artwork from her graphic novels such as Gast and Foodboy, and others, as well as pages from her many shorter comic stories and signed back issues of her debut comic Way Out Strips. The website also contains a new, exclusive interview with Carol.
