Maria Llovet’s sensual and dreamy art has seen her profile rise significantly of late. We reviewed her collaboration with Brian Azzarello on Faithless here at Broken Frontier earlier this year, saying of her visuals that they were “a perfect reflection of the duality of the story and its disturbing contrast of the dreamlike and the recognisable.” Llovet’s new series Luna launches in February 2021 and we have preview art from it below today at BF along with the press release.
BOOM! Studios is proud to announce LUNA, a new original five-issue series by comics creator Maria Llovet (Faithless, Heartbeat). In this darkly erotic series, an innocent young woman finds herself drawn to a mysterious commune where the search for immortality and the true power of enduring love collide, available in February 2021.
When Teresa fatefully crosses paths with the Family of the Sun, she believes them to be exactly what anyone else in the late ‘60s would expect – a hippie cult whose leader claims to have met the divine. But secret blood rituals, powerful drugs and sex runneth amok will bring Teresa face-to-face with the truth about the Family, herself and the dark secret behind her dreams.
Maria Llovet is a multidisciplinary artist from Barcelona, who has published several graphic novels, including There’s Nothing There and Loud. Llovet is currently the artist on Brian Azzarello’s series Faithless from BOOM! Studios. Her illustrations have been characterized by cinematic influences in its visual narrative, with sex and death as central themes permeating her work.
