It’s nearly here! Small Press Day 2017 – the second annual day of celebration of all things self-publishing, micropublishing and DIY culture in the UK and Ireland – is back on Saturday July 8th. The Small Press Day team – that’s cartoonist David Ziggy Greene, Amneet Johal of the Alternative Press and myself (Andy Oliver, Broken Frontier Editor-in-Chief) – have been pushing the event on social media and through the Small Press Day site for the last few months and, just like all of you, we’re looking forward to a fabulous day of signings, fairs and workshops.
This week at BF we’ll be running a number of reviews centred on headlined creators appearing at Small Press Day events. Don’t forget, too, that our second Broken Frontier Small Press Yearbook featuring the work of Rebecca Bagley, Kim Clements, Brigid Deacon, Emily Rose Lambert, Jey Levang, Ellice Weaver, Rozi Hathaway, Danny Noble, Emma Raby, EdieOP, Tim Bird, John Riordan, Rachael Smith, Steve Tillotson and Grace Wilson launches, fittingly, on the day at London’s Gosh! Comics from 7pm to 9pm. More details here and there’s a Facebook event page here. Come along, have a drink on us and get your copy signed by some of the artists!
Below are posters from some of the events on the day that the Small Press Day team have been alerted to. Check out our Small Press Day site for details on what’s happening in your local area. Grassroots publishing is where it all begins after all. So take some time to appreciate the benefits of the small press scene on July 8th. You won’t regret it!
